Residents are enjoying nature walks and breathtaking sunrises over Batten Bay and the James River from the community’s observation pier and NatureWatch trail. Two decks, one halfway down the 844′ pier, and the other at the pier’s end, provide benches and scenic overlooks across the marsh and river.

A dozen NatureWatch signs, with pictures and kid-friendly nature facts, identify the many plants, birds and animals that can be seen around the marsh and bay.
